Presentation of the study results “Young Adults’ Housing Decision-Making Processes in Rural Areas”

as part of the lecture series “Housing Preferences of Young Adults” organized by the Ministry and the Academy for Rural Areas of Baden-Württemberg.

As they navigate education, college, starting their careers, or starting a family, young adults face the question of whether to stay, leave, or return. They are in a transitional phase during which they make pivotal decisions about their future. Although young adults play a crucial role in the structural and demographic development of rural areas, they are rarely recognized or addressed as a group.

This is where the study “Where Do I Want to Live?” comes in. It identifies key factors influencing young adults’ decisions about where to live. While they are certainly open to the idea of living in rural areas, they encounter various obstacles when it comes to making that a reality. The study particularly highlights the need for suitable housing.

The event provided an overview of the study’s key findings, with a focus on housing. Experts presented examples and strategies for creating housing for young adults in rural areas.
