Organization and conduction of the expert workshop "Housing Sector and Affordable Housing: Dynamics. Challenges. Potentials?"
As part of the workshop series “The Nerver-Ending Story of Housing Question(s)” by the Junior Researcher Group “Social Housing Provision”, I am organizing and conducting an expert workshop “Housing Sector and Affordable Housing: Dynamics. Challenges. Potentials?” on February 22, 2019. The invited experts are: Prof. Dr. Stefanie Hiß; Dr. Bernd Hunger GdW and urban planner Heike Dederer. The workshop is funded by the Hans-Böckler Stiftung.
The workshop addresses the tension between the housing industry and affordable housing or, in another way, between the logic of entrepreneurship and social responsibility. Can the housing companies provide affordable housing and how can potentials be worked out through which the housing companies can contribute to solving the 'housing question'?
The workshop looks at these questions in three blocks: Dynamics. From a scientific 'outside perspective', the dynamics of (housing) companies in the field of tension between the logic of entrepreneurial action on the one hand and social responsibility on the other are focused. Challenges. From the perspective of practice, those challenges are verbalized that arise from the clash of profitability and affordability in the housing industry - both by the housing industry and by the public sector. Potentials? The researcher Antonia J. Krahl takes up the challenges and dynamics in relation to the connection of the housing industry and affordable housing and presents possible potentials based on the first results of her dissertation.

Im Rahmen der Workshopreihe „Wohnungsfrage(n) ohne Ende“ der Nachwuchsforscherinnengruppe „Soziale Wohnraumversorgung“ organisiere und führe ich am 22. Februar 2019 den Expertenworkshop “Wohnungswirtschaft und bezahlbarer Wohnraum: Dynamiken. Herausforderungen. Potentiale?” durch. Die geladene Experten sind: Prof. Dr. Stefanie Hiß; Dr. Bernd Hunger GdW sowie Stadtplanerin Heike Dederer. Finanziert wird der Workshop durch die Hans-Böckler Stiftung.
Der Workshop thematisiert das Spannungsverhältnis von Wohnungswirtschaft und bezahlbarem Wohnraum oder anders – von unternehmerischer Handlungslogik und gesellschaftlicher Verantwortung. Kann die Privatwirtschaft bezahlbaren Wohnraum bereitstellen und wie lassen sich Potentiale herausarbeiten, durch die die Wohnungswirtschaft zur Lösung der ‚Wohnungsfrage‘ beitragen kann?
Diese Fragen betrachtet der Workshop in drei Blöcken: Dynamiken. Von einer wissenschaftlichen ‚Außenperspektive‘ werden die Dynamiken von (Wohnungs-)Unternehmen im Spannungsfeld unternehmerischer Handlungslogik einerseits und gesellschaftlicher Verantwortung andererseits fokussiert. Herausforderungen. Aus der Perspektive der Praxis werden diejenigen Herausforderungen verbalisiert, die sich durch das Aufeinandertreffen von Wirtschaftlichkeit und Bezahlbarkeit im Bereich der Wohnungswirtschaft ergeben – sowohl durch die Wohnungswirtschaft, als auch durch die Öffentliche Hand. Potentiale? Die Nachwuchswissenschaftlerin Antonia J. Krahl greift die Herausforderungen und die Dynamiken in Bezug auf das Verhältnis von Wohnungswirtschaft und bezahlbarem Wohnraum auf und referiert auf Basis erster Ergebnisse ihrer Dissertation mögliche Potentiale.
